Volunteer Program: Unity Gardens II

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

– Proverbs 13:12

Come out for an evening of giving back to the community.

Volunteer at the Unity Garden located at 3701 Prast Blvd., South Bend. The Unity Gardens is a collaborative network of community gardens that originated to increase the availability, awareness, and accessibility of healthy, locally-grown food.

Help plant the garden, weed out unwanted plants, and move soil and mulch around the property. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. You should wear close-toed shoes, sunscreen, and work gloves. If you don’t have your own gloves, you can use the gloves provided by the gardens. Also, bring a refillable water bottle to take out into the garden.

This is a great opportunity to spend time with friends outdoors while helping a local non-profit and exploring the property that has nature trails, goats, chickens, and bee hives.

A light snack and refreshing drink will be provided.

The garden is now wheelchair-accessible!
