CHANGE A LIFE!

Many R&R clients benefit from informal interactions with a caring adult in a one-on-one mentoring relationship. R&R is currently seeking volunteers to be paired with youth and young adults to offer support, encouragement and opportunities for skill-building.

VOLUNTEER MENTORS

The goal of the relationship is to reassure the person that there is someone dependable who will empathize, encourage and provide a safe haven in which to pursue his or her good life goals. Important things to know:

• Volunteer Mentors will be trained.
• An adult Mentor may be paired with an emancipated foster adult, foster youth, or a person with developmental disabilities.
• Mentors may receive funding and support to enable their success. For example, the R&R Mentee may earn gift cards and/or stipend based on the number of hours they are active in participating in the mentorship program.
• Mentors will meet face-to-face and make periodic check-ins to encourage, guide, and support the Mentee’s success in meeting their life goals.

EVENT SUPPORT

Volunteer help is also needed on an occasional basis for social outings and events with clients. Volunteers at these events are encouraged to be friendly and interactive with participants, provide emotional support when needed and sometimes help with event logistics.

• Bowling
• Putt-Putt golf
• Roller skating
• Ice skating
• Picnics
• Holiday parties
